Note: Pricer electronic shelf label (ESL) integration is a new capability added to the Label management for LS Central extension. Verification of the end-to-end integration against a live Pricer environment is in progress at the time of writing. Confirm with your Pricer representative and test thoroughly in your own environment before relying on it for production label updates.

Overview

Instead of printing shelf labels on paper, a shelf label function can send its label data to the Pricer electronic shelf label (ESL) system, where Pricer's own infrastructure renders it on an electronic label attached to the shelf. Which implementation a shelf label function uses is set on the Shelf Label Print Impl. field on the Shelf label functions page:

  • EPL Shelf Label (38x70 mm) — the existing Zebra/EPL paper label printing described in Label Setup. This is the default.
  • Pricer Electronic Labels — sends the label data to Pricer instead of printing it.

This choice is made per shelf label function, so paper printing and Pricer ESL can be used side by side for different label functions, or in different stores.

Connecting to Pricer

Click the icon, enter Pricer Integration Setup, and select the relevant link.

Field Description
Client ID The Client ID issued by Pricer for API authentication.
Client Secret The Client Secret issued by Pricer. It is stored encrypted and is never shown again after you save it; the field displays a placeholder instead.
Token Base URL The OAuth token endpoint supplied by Pricer. Required.
Multi Store Items URL The Pricer endpoint that label data is sent to. Must contain exactly one %1 placeholder, which is replaced with the store's Pricer Store Id at send time. Required.
Multi Store Requests URL The Pricer endpoint used to look up a request ID when Pricer does not return one directly in the send response. Must also contain one %1 placeholder for the Pricer Store Id. Required.
Batch Size The maximum number of items sent in a single HTTP request. Default 10,000; values of zero or below fall back to the default.

Authentication uses the OAuth client-credentials method: LS Central requests a token from the Token Base URL with the Client ID on the query string and the Client Secret sent only in a request header, never in the URL. The returned access token is cached and automatically refreshed shortly before it expires, so it does not need to be requested again for every send.

Use the Test Connect action on the Pricer Integration Setup page to verify the connection and obtain a token before sending any label data. The same action is available as Test Print/Connect on the Shelf label functions page for a label function whose Shelf Label Print Impl. is Pricer Electronic Labels.

Store setup

On the Store Card, in the Label Information group, set the Pricer Store Id field to the store identifier Pricer uses for this store. A store without a Pricer Store Id cannot receive Pricer ESL data; sends for that store are skipped and logged as failed. See Store shelf label functions for the rest of the Label Information group.

Sending label data to Pricer

There are two ways label data reaches Pricer:

  • Automatically, as part of normal shelf label spool release, for any shelf label function whose Shelf Label Print Impl. is Pricer Electronic Labels. This uses the same Update Spools using Scheduler mechanism described in Shelf label printing, except the released spool is sent to Pricer instead of printed on paper.
  • On demand, using the Send All Items to Pricer action on the Pricer Integration Setup page. Select a store with a Pricer Store Id, and every active item with a valid retail price for that store is sent, regardless of whether it changed recently. Use this to (re-)populate a store's electronic labels, for example after first connecting a store to Pricer.

Items are sent to Pricer's Multi Store Items URL in batches (see Batch Size). If a periodic discount applies to an item on the date it is sent, the discounted price and the pre-discount price are both included, as described in Shelf Label Discount and Currency Pricing.

What is sent to Pricer

Each item sent to Pricer is a JSON object. Use the Pricer Payload Reference action on the Pricer Integration Setup page for an in-product summary of the same information. The main fields are:

JSON field Description
itemId The item's No.
itemName The item's Description.
itemGroup The item's Retail Product Code, if set.
department The item's Item Category Code, if set.
price The price the customer pays: the discounted price when a discount applies, otherwise the regular price.
presentation The label template Pricer should render with — from the label function's Label Presentation or Discount Label Presentation field. See Shelf Label Discount and Currency Pricing.
validFrom The date the label price becomes valid.
sics An array containing the item's barcode. Note: this Pricer field is called sics, not barcode.
properties A nested object holding, when applicable: normalPrice and discountPrice (the pre- and post-discount prices), discountPercentage, compUnit and compPrice (comparison unit and price), and one currencyPrice_<Currency Code> entry per secondary currency configured — see Shelf Label Discount and Currency Pricing.

Note: discountPercentage, normalPrice, and discountPrice are only included when a periodic discount applies to the item on the send date; otherwise only price (the regular price) is sent.

Pricer request logs

Use the Pricer Request Logs action on the Pricer Integration Setup page to view an audit trail of Pricer operations: the store, label function, item count, who initiated it, when, and whether it completed successfully or failed. Each entry also stores the request JSON sent to Pricer, which is useful when troubleshooting a rejected or unexpected send.
