Releasing and printing Price Group Labels
Price Group Labels are an alternative shelf label generation model, provided by the Label management for LS Central extension. Instead of generating one shelf label record per store, the system generates one label record per Price Group. In installations with many stores, this produces far fewer records and completes label generation more quickly than the per-store model, because stores that share the same Price Group share the same generated label.
Price Group Labels are enabled by setting the Shelf Label Type field to Create Labels per Price Group in
Item setup for Price Group Labels
When Shelf Label Type is set to Create Labels per Price Group, an item's shelf label setup is maintained on the Price Group Label Setup page instead of the Shelf Label Setup page. Open it from the Retail Item Card or the Retail Item List, under Navigate - Master Data - Labels Printing Setup - Price Group Label Setup. This action is only visible when Price Group Labels are enabled.
The main difference from per-store shelf label setup is how the setup line is scoped to stores:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Label Code | Specifies the default shelf label function/layout for this item. |
| Distribution Group / Distribution Subgroup | Specifies which stores the setup line applies to, instead of the Store Group Code used on the per-store Shelf Label Setup page. |
| Red Flag Label Code | Specifies an alternative shelf label code used when the price originates from a Promotion rather than the price table. |
| Quantity | Specifies the default number of labels to print per request. |
| Text 1 / Text 2, Text 1 Is Item Descr., Text 1 Is Item Descr. 2 | Work the same way as on the per-store Shelf Label Setup page: free text lines that can be overridden by the item or variant description. |
How Price Group Labels are generated
Price Group Label records are generated automatically; you do not create them manually. The Price Group Labels page (LS Central - BackOffice - Store Management - Item and Shelf Labels) lists the generated records, keyed by Price Group, Item No., Variant, Unit of Measure, and the date the label becomes valid.
Generation scans the same Action/Preaction changes as per-store shelf labels (price changes, description changes, barcode changes, label function changes, and so on — see Label actions ) and evaluates every active Customer Price Group for each affected item.
A separate label record valid from the day after a periodic discount ends is created upfront, so the post-discount price is picked up automatically once the offer expires. See Shelf Label Discount and Currency Pricing for how discount and secondary-currency prices are calculated.
Scheduling Price Group Label generation
Price Group Label generation runs as a scheduled job, similar to the Label Utility codeunit used for per-store shelf labels (see Scheduling label creation ), but it uses a different codeunit:
- Click the
icon, enter Scheduler Job, and select the relevant link. - Create a new job with Object Type set to Codeunit and Object No. set to the codeunit (10060306) that generates Price Group Labels (LSC LBL Price Group Lbl Util).
- Set a recurring schedule for the job, the same way you would for any other Scheduler Job.
Note: Running this job while Shelf Label Type is set to Create Labels per Store has no effect; Price Group Label generation only runs when Shelf Label Type is set to Create Labels per Price Group.
Releasing and printing Price Group Labels
Price Group Labels are converted into store-specific print spools the same way per-store shelf labels are, through the label function's Update Spools using Scheduler setting or the manual spool update/release actions described in Shelf label printing. At spool time, the system resolves which Price Group(s) apply to the printing store and builds the store's print spool from the matching Price Group Label records, so printing and reprinting work the same way for both label types.
