Release Calendar

Release Calendar is a tool that is used to release purchase orders at a specific date and time, based on the defined frequency.

In some industries (for example pharmacy), there is a need to provide the items to the customers in a very short time, even if the store does not have the item in stock. In that case, if the purchase order is sent to the supplier before a certain time, the order can be delivered on the same day. Here, the Release Calendar functionality steps in to help to schedule the automatic release of purchase orders.

To enable this feature, a Release Calendar should be linked to a location and a vendor, therefore the functionality can also be used for warehouse locations, not only for stores.

The setup of this functionality consists of several steps:

  1. General setup.
  2. Enabling the vendors and locations for release calendars.
  3. Defining the calendars.
  4. Linking the calendars to vendors and locations and creating the release actions.
  5. Setting up the Scheduler jobs that process the release actions and clean up the logs.
