Posting Exception

The Posting Exception makes it possible to automatically transfer stock from the owning location of an Item to the selling location of the same Item. So, for example, when pizza is sold from multiple locations but only one location is responsible for item storage, the locations selling the pizza never end up with a negative quantity and the storage location is up-to-date with the correct inventory.

The Posting Exception affects the POS posting process by creating a new type of transaction table. Posting Exception makes it possible to re-post stock on hand, for the store location and the non-store location, so that now a location without a store can be used as a location filter.

The Posting Exception helps the Back Office user to see the real-time stock information for an Item. The Posting Exception is controlled by the Posting Exception Setup table. The Posting Exception affects the POS posting process which, depending on the setup, created new types of transaction tables. The tables let the user correctly report stock on hand for both the sale and sourcing location before statement posting. After statement posting everything falls in place and the data in those tables are marked as posted. To be able to re-post stock on hand, for store Location and non-store location, the relation between store and location was redesigned in the way that location without store can stand alone and be used as location filter.

Note: Do not use Sales Type to divert the sales location while using a Posting Exception. This would result in incorrect stock on hand reporting.
