Joining Bags

Joining bags combines two to twenty-five existing safe bags into a single new bag. The source bags are dissolved and a new bag is created that holds the combined amount. All source bag numbers are retired; only the new joined bag number remains in the safe register. You can join bags that are held in the safe or bags that have already been designated for the bank — but all source bags must share the same Bag Type (Bank, Safe, or Fixed Float).

Use this operation to consolidate cash from multiple POS terminals before sending a single bag to the bank, or to reduce the number of open bags in a safe at end of day.

To join bags

  1. Click the icon, enter Join Safe Bag List, and select the relevant link.
  2. Choose New to create a new join header. The Join Safe Bags card opens.
  3. In the Safe No. field, select the safe whose bags you want to join. The system automatically assigns a new Bag No. for the resulting joined bag using the safe's join bag number series.
  4. In the Bag Type field, confirm or set the type for the new joined bag (Bank, Safe, or Fixed Float). All source bags you add on the lines must match this type.
  5. Optionally, enter a Description and Tender Type to identify the combined bag.
  6. On the Lines FastTab, add each source bag:
    1. In the Bag No. field on an empty line, select a bag from the Safe Bag List. The Amount column is filled automatically from the bag's current total.
    2. Repeat for each additional bag. You must add at least two bags; the maximum is twenty-five.
  7. Review the combined Amount shown in the header. This is a calculated sum of all line amounts.
  8. On the Joined Bag menu, choose Post (or press F9). A confirmation message is displayed. Choose Yes.

After posting, the system:

  • Closes all source Safe Ledger Entries and applies them to a new joined entry.
  • Creates a new Safe Bag with the combined amount. The new bag appears in the Safe Bag List for the safe.
  • Removes the join header and all source bag records from the active bags list.

Note: If you need to join bags of different types, change the Bag Type on each source bag first (see Changing the Bag Type) before creating the join.
