Staff & Logon

The Staff & Logon FastTab on the POS Functionality Profile Card has various configurations that you can set to help with the configuration of the logon functionality.
Note: Some of these configurations only apply to specific logon types.

Configuration Description
Staff Barcode Logon Specifies whether a cashier (staff member) must log into the POS terminals by using a barcode. For this to work you must configure a barcode mask.
Register Logon/Logoff Specifies whether the POS will register each Logon/Logoff operation as a separate transaction that can be viewed in the Transaction Register.
Only Card Logon Specifies whether only MSR card swipe is allowed to be used for logon at POS, no keyboard input is allowed. You must create an MSR Staff Link for this functionality to work.
Card Logon at Sale Specifies what happens if a staff MSR card is swiped during sale. You must create an MSR Staff Link for this to work.
  • Switch Staff: The POS will switch to the new staff ID.
  • Manager Key: The Manager Key status will be set, if the new staff member has manager privileges, (the same as the MGRKEY POS command).
Staff Takeover in Trans. Specifies whether a staff member without manager privileges takes over an open transaction when opening the transaction in the POS.

Note: If the Card Logon At Sale field is set as Manager Key, this setting is always considered to be set as Never.

Tip: To have the possibility of either taking over or not, use the With Confirmation option.

  • Always: Staff members always take over transactions, that is the Staff ID of the transaction changes to the Staff ID of the staff member when he or she opens the transaction in the Sales POS window.
  • With Confirmation: The program prompts the staff member for taking over, confirming means that the Staff ID changes, not confirming means that the Staff does not change.
  • Never: Staff members do not take over transactions when they open transactions in the Sales POS window. Staff ID remains the ID of the staff member that created the transaction.

Note: If the setting is Never or if the user does not confirm to take over the transaction with the setting With Confirmation, the current transaction is finalized with the already signed on staff member and the next transaction that is created will have the new Staff ID.

Manager Takeover in Trans. Specifies whether staff members with manager privileges take over an open transaction when they open the transaction in the POS.

Note: A Dallas Key can never be used to do a manager takeover.

Note: If the value in the Card Logon At Sale field is Manager Key, this setting is always considered to be set as Never.

Tip: To have the possibility of either taking over or not, use the With Confirmation option.

  • Always: Manager always takes over transactions, that is the Staff ID of the transaction changes to the Staff ID of the manager when opening the transaction in the Sales POS window.
  • With Confirmation: The program prompts the manager for taking over, confirming means that the Staff ID changes, not confirming means that the Staff does not change.
  • Never: Managers do not take over transactions when they open transactions in the Sales POS window. Staff ID remains the ID of the staff member that created the transaction

Note: If the setting is Never or if the user does not confirm to take over the transaction with the setting With Confirmation, the current transaction is finalized with the already signed on staff member and the next transaction that is created will have the new Staff ID.
