Results and creating a reservation
Dining Availability Search lets you check dining availability for a location and activity product without going through the full reservation flow, and then create a reservation directly from an available slot.
Opening the search
On the LS Activity Role Center, in the New action group, select Dining Availability Search.
If you have a valid search from a previous use, the availability results open directly, using the same location and product as last time. Otherwise - for example the first time you use this - a Dining Availability Search dialog opens first so you can enter the specification described below.
Search specification
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Location | Read-only. Follows the selected product - either the product's fixed location, or the location that names the product as its dining reservation desk product. |
| Product No. | Required. The dining activity product to search availability for. The lookup only offers active dining products (Custom Availability = DINING) that are not a Course or Package product type, and whose Default View is not Reservation Card. Selecting a product also fills No. of Persons from the product's Default No. of Persons, if the product has one, and the dining duration from the product's Default Quantity (blank when the product has no default quantity). |
| No. of Persons | Required. The party size to search availability for - a table is only counted as available if it can seat this many guests. Filled from the product when you select one; you can change it. |
| Dining Duration (Min.) | The dining duration in minutes. Leave blank to use the period's configured dining duration. |
| Preferred Sections | Only shown if the location's dining area configures a section-preference attribute. Filters the search results to the selected sections. Defaults from the selected product's comments, but a manual pick is kept for the rest of the search even if the product is changed afterward. |
| Preferred Dining Tables | Only shown if the location's dining area configures a table-preference attribute. Filters the search results to the selected dining tables. Defaults from the selected product's comments, but a manual pick is kept for the rest of the search even if the product is changed afterward. |
Note: Product No. and No. of Persons are mandatory - the dialog does not close on OK until both are set.
Results and creating a reservation
Confirming the specification opens the The dining availability lookup page for the specified location, product, guest count, dining duration and preferences. It shows today's availability at the location, using the location's own time zone. Use Go To Date, Previous Day, or Next Day to view other dates. The lookup behaves the same as it does from a reservation, with two differences:
- There is no underlying reservation yet, so Change Specifications re-runs the search itself - product, location, guest count, dining duration and preferences can all be changed, and the results are recalculated for the new specification. Revert Specifications restores the specification the search opened with.
- A Create Reservation action is available on each availability line. Selecting it and confirming creates a reservation for the specified guest count, at the slot's date and time, and copies any section and table preferences from the search onto the new reservation.
