To assign a self service kiosk profile to a POS terminal

You need to set up at least one self-service kiosk profile for your restaurants with self-service kiosks.

The profile contains the images that are visible to the users and texts that guide the users when creating orders. If you want to display kiosks in multiple languages, you must configure the profile for translations and translate the necessary data. Once you have set up a self-service kiosk profile, you need to assign it to the restaurants or POS terminals that are going run self-service kiosks.

Note: You can use the LS Import Export Worksheet to import self-service kiosk profiles from the LS Retail demo data with image types and set texts. The Self Service Kiosk Profile is located under Hospitality. If you do not see the profile listed, click the Process action, and then click Update Table List.

To create a new self-service kiosk profile

  1. Click the icon, enter Self Service Kiosk Profiles, and select the relevant link.
  2. Create a new profile.
  3. Fill in the Profile ID and Description fields.
  4. Fill in the Language Profile ID, if you want the profile's kiosks to appear in multiple languages. The language profile includes the languages used.
  5. Fill in the Currency Code field. It must be filled in, even if the profile's restaurants use local currency. The code is needed for the correct amount and price formatting in the kiosks.
  6. Turn on Enable Member Scanning, if you want to enable scanning of members in the profile's kiosks.
  7. Turn on Display Item HTML, if you want to show item HTML buttons in the profile's kiosks, showing further description of the items.
  8. Turn on Display Queue Counter, if you want to let the profile's kiosks display the order queue counter for a few seconds after the customer pays for the order. This is useful, for example, if the printer that prints the customer receipt with the queue counter is not working. The customers then at least see the queue counter of their order.

Formatting of amounts and prices in the Kiosk

The amount and price formatting of the Self-Service Kiosk is controlled by the Windows Language ID and the currency code specified in the Currency Code field of the active self service kiosk profile:

  • If the profile does not have a language code specified, the Self-Service Kiosk takes Windows Language ID from the system's regional settings.
  • If the profile has a language code specified, the Self-Service Kiosk takes the Windows Language ID from the Windows Language ID of the profile's language.

To assign images

The profile has six image types that you set for your profile kiosks:

  • The front image is the image that appears when the POS is started, before the user selects the sales type to start a transaction.
    • FRONT-LANDSCAPE: the idle screen image shown, if the screen resolution is landscape.
    • FRONT-PORTRAIT: the idle screen image shown, if the screen resolution is portrait.
  • An advertisement image can be to advertise a special offer.
    • AD-CHECKOUT-LANDSCAPE: the image shown in checkout, if the screen resolution is landscape.
    • AD-CHECKOUT-PORTRAIT: the image shown in checkout, if the screen resolution is portrait (formerly called TOP-DEAL-IMAGE).
    • AD-MENU: the image shown in the menu page in all kiosk formats.
  1. In the Action bar, click Insert Image Types. The system creates one image line per available image type.
  2. Select a line, and click Manage - Assign Image. You can also click the drill-down in the Image Code field.
  3. Select an image in the Image ID field.
  4. Close the window.
  5. Repeat for the rest of the lines.

To adjust set texts

The profile has a setup for the texts that are shown during order taking.

  1. In the Action bar, click the Texts action.
  2. Click the Insert Text Types action. The system creates one text line per available text type.
  3. In the Text Value field, enter a text that you want the user to see for the specific text type.

Note: It is recommended to import a self service kiosk profile from the LS Retail demo database using the LS Import Export Worksheet. Then you can copy the texts from that profile, giving you the description of each text type and the text value that you can then change, if needed.

To create a new profile from the current one or copy from the current profile to another

  1. In the Action bar, click Create New/Copy From.
  2. In the Copy to SSK Profile field, enter a new Profile ID, or select the Profile ID of an existing profile.
  3. Select what you want to copy from the current profile (fields, texts, or images).
  4. Click OK.

The system creates a new profile with the requested data from the current profile, or it copies the requested data to an existing profile.

To assign a self service kiosk profile to a restaurant

  1. Click the icon, enter Restaurant List, and select the relevant link.
  2. Select a restaurant.

To assign a self service kiosk profile to a POS terminal

If you need to have specific kiosk images for a POS terminal or specific POS terminal self service profile settings, you must create a self service kiosk profile specifically for that POS terminal.

The system first looks for the profile assigned to the POS terminal. If a profile is assigned, this is the active profile. If none is assigned, the profile assigned to the restaurant is the active profile.

  1. Click the icon, enter POS Terminal List, and select the relevant link.
  2. Select a POS terminal.
  3. In the POS Terminal Card, in the Self Service Kiosk Profile ID field, select the appropriate self service profile.
