Customer Facing Display Station - Example

A Customer FacingDisplay Station (CFD) usually shows the orders/chits with 3 or 4 digit order IDs in the header, which is also printed on the slip given to the customer.

Here is an example on how to set that up.

1 Configure the queue counter

The Hospitality Type or the Store/Restaurant in question must be set to use Queue CountersThe queue counter for the transaction represents the Order ID and the KOT is marked with this Order ID.

2 Configure a display profile

  1. The CFD should always be of the type Chit Display.
  2. Open the KDS Display Profile List, and click the KDS Chit Header Designer action.
  3. In the KDS Chit/Line Columns FastTab, open a new line (click Manage - New Line), and set the KDS Data Type to KOT Data.
  4. Set the Field Data to Customer Order Queue No..
  5. Be sure to set the Width (%) to an appropriate value (100 if it should fill the entire line).

See How to: Design a Chit Display and a Line Display (KDS Display Profile) for more information.

To set the font and size of the Chit Header style profile, see How to: Set Up Colors, Fonts, and Font Sizes (KDS Style Profile) for more information.

3 Configure the Customer Facing Display Station

  1. Go to the Display Station List, and open the card for the CFD.
  2. The field Display Station Type should be set to Customer Facing Display.
If the chit should only be displayed after everything is bumped on prior stations, the Show only when Bumped on Prior Stations check box on the KDS Settings FastTab should be selected.
  3. Set the appropriate Display Profile ID in the KDS Profiles FastTab. Create a new style, if needed.

4 Set the CFD as next station on an expeditor station

The last Display Station in the chain, before the CFD, should point to the CFD.

5 Add the CFD station to the routing information

In order for something to be displayed on the CFD, the items must be routed to the CFD.

  • Add the items to the routing information in the Item Section Routings list.

6 Set the automatic bump of the chit

If the chit should only be shown for a specific time, and then disappear, that can be configured in the KDS Functional Profile.

  • Open the functional profile assigned to the CFD, and set the field When to autoBump from CFD (mins.) to the number of minutes preferred. If you set the field to 0 (zero), the chit has to be bumped manually from the CFD.
