In a dining area with Multiple Seatings on a Dining Table, several groups can be seated at the same dining table. When you transfer, you move one seating group, together with its orders, to another dining table in the same dining area. The groups that stay at the original table are not affected, and the groups that are already seated at the destination table stay there. The transferred group becomes one more seating group at the destination table.

This topic describes the transfer on the POS. The transfer for dining areas with one seating per table is described in Setting Up Transfer.

Setting up the transfer command

The transfer uses the TRTBL_PART command. Place it where staff can reach it from the seating group:

  • As a button in the block of the seating group on the Overview Table Popup panel.
  • On the pop-up menu of the block, which is set up per state on the hospitality service flow.

See Where to put the commands for a seating group or reservation and POS Menus for Multiple Seatings.

To transfer a seating group

  1. In the table overview, press the dining table where the group is seated. The Overview Table Popup panel opens.
  2. Select the seating group that you want to move, if the Transfer button is not in the block of the group.
  3. Select the Transfer button of the block, or on the pop-up menu of the block. The panel closes, and the POS shows which table the group is transferred from. If the group has an order, the POS shows Transferring party from table, otherwise Transferring Seating from table.
  4. Press the dining table that the group is transferred to. The pop-up menu for the transfer opens, the same as for any other dining table.
  5. Select the transfer in the pop-up menu. To stop, select Cancel Transfer instead.

The program moves the seating group and its orders to the destination table, and shows TRANSFER Completed. The group is then listed in the Overview Table Popup panel of the destination table.

What the program checks

The program refuses the transfer, and shows a message, in these cases:

  • No seating group is selected. Select a seating group before you select Transfer.
  • The table is locked, for example because the table is in use on another POS terminal. This applies to the table you transfer from, and to the table you transfer to.
  • The destination is in another dining area. You can transfer only within the dining area of the table that the group is seated at.
  • The destination is the same table. The same table can be pressed, and the pop-up menu opens, but the transfer is refused when you select it: You cannot transfer to the same table.
  • The group does not fit at the destination table. The destination table must have enough free seats for the whole group. The free seats are the seat capacity of the table minus the guests of the other groups seated there. The message is, for example, TRANSFER Cancelled: The party of 6 does not fit in the 4 free seats at the destination table. A destination table that has no seat capacity set is not limited.

When the program refuses the transfer, nothing is moved: the group stays at its original table, and the transfer ends. To try another destination table, start the transfer again.

Note: You can transfer only a whole seating group. You cannot transfer a single order of a group, or part of an order, to another table.
