Delivery & Takeout Overview

The Delivery & Takeout system manages delivery orders and takeout orders that are registered via the phone in a call center, on a web page or in the restaurant itself (walk-in).

It handles the following processes:

  • The customer calls in and orders items either for delivery or takeout.
  • The customer may be ordering in advance, later the same day or the next day or later (pre-orders)
  • If delivery, the restaurant is automatically picked by the system (the streets and restaurant assignments are in the database).
  • If takeout, the customer selects where he or she wants to pick up the order.
  • The orders are sent to the restaurant if the call center is not using the same database as the restaurants (offline call center).
  • The customer may call in again to change his/her order. This is allowed under certain circumstances.
  • In the restaurant, the orders are sent to the kitchen on time and prepared.
  • When takeout orders are ready, they wait for the customer pickup.
  • When delivery orders are ready, they are assigned to an available delivery driver. The orders can be ordered using a grid map index.
  • The delivery drivers prepare a delivery trip by printing out the receipts for the orders assigned to them with the customer address details
  • The drivers take the appropriate float with them.
  • Once the drivers are back, the drivers finalize the orders.
  • The drivers are then either ready for the next batch of delivery orders or they quit their shift (off call) and hand in their float.

In Delivery & Takeout, you work with many panels. The Hospitality POS Startup panel shows the unfinished orders as delivery, takeout and pre-order lists.

You use the Delivery Order panel to take down a delivery or a takeout order via the phone.  This means entering a phone number, order type (takeout or delivery), contact name, delivery address and tender type (when delivery) and restaurant (when takeout).

After that you open the Sales POS and order the items.

The Delivery Orders Overview panel shows all open delivery and takeout orders within all restaurants. It displays the status of each order and here you can search for an order by phone number or contact name, view the contact details for the selected order and view the company’s contact list.

The Delivery Orders History panel lets you view posted orders, both completed and canceled.

When you use the KDS system (Kitchen Display System) for the preparation of your orders, you can see when orders have been started or finished in the Hospitality POS Startup panel.
