How to: Display Open Groups in Pop-up Panels

A pop-up panel shows options that the user can select from. More complex pop-up panels show grouped options. An item modifier group is one example. This group contains multiple item modifiers, each containing multiple options. Each item modifier acts like a grouping for its options.

Ways of showing grouped options in a pop-up panel:

  • Standard version: Options for one group are visible. Users must select individual groups to see their options.

  • Enhanced version: All the options are visible, the groups are open. Users can quickly select the desired options from all the groups. Each group section starts with a button showing the name of the group (no command is behind the button). A group spans one or more rows. The rows show the group options. The number of columns is equal to one (the group column) plus however many columns there are necessary to display the options. You can set a limit on how many columns are shown.

Note:This feature requires POS Pop-up Version Enhanced.

For the enhanced version, Pop-up Types control how groups are shown. The Option Grouping field specifies for each pop-up type whether there is option grouping and whether it is closed (one option group visible) or open (all options visible). Any pop-up not handled by the Enhanced Version shows options for one group at a time.

To display open groups in pop-up panels

  • If you want to use open groups for any of your infocode-based groups (infocodes, item modifiers, cross-selling), you need to have one pop-up type with Infocode Handler with Option Grouping Yes-All Options Visible.

  • To have all your infocode-based groups use open groups, mark this pop-up type as Default for Option/Group.

  • If you want only specific infocode-based groups to use open groups, you must assign this open group pop-up type directly to each infocode-based group (infocode group, item modifier group, or cross-selling group).

  • If you do not want certain POS terminals to show groups with all options visible, you must include a pop-up type with Option Grouping Yes - One Option Group Visible with the interface profile of the POS terminals.

  • To set a limit on how many columns are shown in the pop-up panel with open groups, enter a number in the No. of Option Button Columns field for the open group pop-up type.
