If your restaurant is a quick service restaurant with an eat-in dining area, you can set up QR Code ordering for the dining tables.

QR codes per dining table

You generate QR codes for dining tables in the eat-in dining area, print them and place the images on the dining tables.

The ordering flow

  1. The customer that is seated at a dining table with QR code, scans the code with their phone.
  2. The customer is directed to the eCommerce menu and places their order.
  3. When the customer pays for the order, the order is sent to the kitchen.

The QR codes consist of the restaurant's URI, the restaurant number, dining table number, and sales type.

QR codes per transaction

You can have multiple eCommerce QR orders, add items to the same open table by printing one or more QR codes at the time of seating the customers.

The ordering flow

  1. The order taker seats the customers at a dining table.
  2. The order taker prints out either one QR code for the dining table (guest number not specified) or one QR code per customer (this depends on which setting was selected for the command in question).
  3. The customers scan the dining table QR code or their own QR code with their phone.
  4. The customers are directed to the eCommerce menu and place their order.
  5. The orders are added to the same transaction.
  6. The order can be paid in full by one customer or split between customers like a normal order, when the customer leaves.

The QR codes consist of the restaurant's URI, the restaurant number, dining table number, sales type and a transaction number.

Setup

For QR ordering, you need to set up at least one hospitality type with Service Type Quick Service with Dining Area. You set up a dining area that includes the dining tables in the restaurant and assign this dining area to the hospitality type in question. The hospitality type's sales type is used to build the QR code. It gives the eCommerce platform information on what sales type to use when orders are created for the dining tables (that is, to which hospitality type the orders belong).

Note: A dining area can be used by more than one hospitality type. In that case, more than one sales type is valid for the QR codes in a dining area. The program picks the first hospitality type that uses the dining area when generating the QR codes. If this is not the correct hospitality type, you must fill out the Sales Type for eCommerce Ordering field on the Dining Area Card page with the desired sales type.
