Data Director is the service that transfers data between databases, remotely or locally.
The Data Director process:
- Extracts data from the source database as is defined by the scheduler job that starts it.
- Compresses that data.
- Sends the data to destinations as the job instructors.
- Uncompresses the data.
- Inserts the data into the destination database.
The Data Director can distribute a package to one or many destinations.
With the Data Director a Job Monitor is included that monitors all work done by the Data Director and can send notification of processed jobs.
