Planet Tax Shopper Registration

Configuration package for the shopper POS panel

The shopper registration panel on the POS relies on a RapidStart configuration package, PackagePLANETTAX_v231.rapidstart. The package contains the POS panel definition and the supporting data the panel needs.

You can apply the package in two ways:

  • Manually import and apply the package in LS Central Back Office.
  • Run the Planet Tax Assisted Setup wizard, which uploads and applies the package for you.

After the package is applied, all POS terminals have access to the required data.

Register a shopper on the POS

The Planet Tax Shopper panel is opened from a POS button assigned to the PLANETTAXSHOPPER command.

  1. Add the items to the transaction on the POS.
  2. Press the button assigned to the PLANETTAXSHOPPER command. The Planet Tax Shopper panel opens.

  3. Fill in the required shopper fields, or scan the shopper's travel document to populate them automatically (see Scan a travel document below).
  4. Choose OK to confirm. A success message confirms that the shopper details are saved on the transaction.

Note: Shoppers under 18 years old are not eligible for tax-free shopping. LS Central blocks the registration and the tax-free request is not sent.

Mandatory shopper fields

All the following fields must be filled in before the shopper registration can be confirmed.

Field Description
First Name The shopper's first name as it appears on their travel document.
Last Name The shopper's last name as it appears on their travel document.
Nationality The shopper's nationality, entered as a two-letter ISO country code.
Country of Residence The country where the shopper currently resides, entered as a two-letter ISO country code.
Phone Number The shopper's contact phone number.
Birth Date The shopper's date of birth. Used to verify the shopper is 18 years of age or older.
Document Type The type of travel document presented. Select PASSPORT or ID_CARD using the document type selector.
Document Issued By The country that issued the travel document, entered as a two-letter ISO country code.
Document Number The document number printed on the travel document.

Scan a travel document

When the Planet Tax Shopper panel is open, the cashier can scan the shopper's travel document with a connected scanner. LS Central reads the Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) from the document and fills in the shopper fields automatically.

The following document formats are supported:

  • Passport (TD3)
  • ID Card (TD1 and TD2)
  • Visa (Type A and Type B)

After scanning, review the populated fields and correct any value if needed before you confirm the registration.

Restrict Issued By

When the Restrict Issued By option is enabled on the UAE Setup page, the Document Issued By country must match the Nationality country. If the two values differ, LS Central displays an error and the shopper registration is not confirmed.

This restriction keeps shopper data consistent with the requirements of the current Planet Tax service version.
