To exclude an income/expense account from the Sales Taxes Collected report
Example: Excluding gratuity (tips)
The Sales Taxes Collected report in Business Central lists the sales tax collected on posted transactions. Some income/expense accounts, such as accounts used for gratuity (tips), post amounts that you do not want to appear in this report. Use the Exclude from Sales Tax Collected field on the Income/Expense Account Card to leave the postings of an account out of the report.
To exclude an income/expense account from the Sales Taxes Collected report
- Click the
icon, enter Store List, and select the relevant link. - Select the store, and then open the Store Card.
- On the Store Card, select Related > Store > Cash and Safe Management Income/Expense Accounts, and then open the Income/Expense Account Card of the account.
- Turn on the Exclude from Sales Tax Collected field.
When the field is turned on, the Sales Taxes Collected report skips the sales tax entries whose source G/L entry is posted to the G/L Account of the income/expense account. The field applies to the G/L account of the income/expense account, and it is checked for the store where the transaction was posted. An income/expense account that has no Store No. specified applies to all stores.
Note: The field only affects the Sales Taxes Collected report. It does not change how the transaction is posted or the sales tax entries that are created.
Example: Excluding gratuity (tips)
A store accepts tips and posts them through an income/expense account of type gratuity that uses a dedicated G/L account.
- On the Income/Expense Account Card of the gratuity account, turn on Exclude from Sales Tax Collected.
- Post POS transactions that include a tip.
- Run the Sales Taxes Collected report. The tip amounts do not appear in the report.
