Deals with Sizes
You can set up a deal that includes deal modifiers of different sizes, such as French Fries Small, Medium and Large. After selecting items in one size, you can easily switch to another size in the POS.
There are two ways of setting up such deals:
Deal Modifiers with a Size Group
You set up a deal modifier per size.
For example, to set up a deal offering regular, large, and super sizes of drinks and potatoes:
- Create three modifiers for the drinks (one for each size) and three for the potatoes (one for each size).
- Assign a "Drink" size group to the drink modifiers and a "Potatoes" size group to the potato modifiers.
- Set the regular size modifiers with an index of 1 (default), the large size with an index of 2, and the super size with an index of 3.
- The index determines the order in which sizes are switched.
Note: The deal can also include modifiers without a size group.
When you select the deal in the POS, the deal modifier pop-up window includes only the modifiers with index 1 from among the modifiers with size groups.
After selecting items in the POS journal:
- You can switch to the next size (such as Medium) by pressing the Size+/- button.
- Pressing the button again, switches to the next size (such as Large) or if there is no next size, it switches back to the default size which can be Regular.
- You can also change the size of individual lines by pressing the Line Size+/- button.
Deal with Single Modifier Selection
Single modifier selection allows you to choose items from one deal size. Sizes can be switched or changed at the POS.
In the Deal Modifiers FastTab on the Deal page:
-
Select Single Modifier in the Selection Type field.
-
In the Single Modifier Switch in Pop-up field, select either Delete Selection (the system deletes the selection from the previous modifier) or Switch Selection (the system switches the selection from the previous modifier to the new modifier.
Note: This is valid if the items for the modifiers are exactly the same (item A has the same line number in each modifier).
-
In the OK Pressed Action field, select Close Panel.
-
In the Lines section, create a deal modifier line for each size that is available for the deal.
-
Place a check mark in the Default Selection field of the deal modifier that should be the default selection if the deal's settings specify When Deal Pressed as Insert Default Selection. For this modifier you must also select a deal modifier item as Default Selection.
Note: The deal cannot include other deal modifiers except for extra modifiers (see Adding Extra Items to Deals).
The pop-up window displays the default size modifier items along with items for other sizes:
- You can select items from only one size at a time.
- If you choose a modifier for a different size, your selection is transferred to that size. This allows the customer to change their choice, such as switching from regular to large items, while still making selections. This behavior is controlled by the Single Mod. Switch in Popup field. The OK Pressed Action field must be set to Close Panel to ensure the pop-up panel closes after the user presses OK, provided the selection is valid.
