If you have enabled the new pricing feature for Business Central, the item prices are maintained using the Sales Price List and Purchase Price List. LS Central provides you with the functionality to maintain the prices for variants using the Dimension Price Matrix, which is a page that gives you an overview of all the variants belonging to an item, grouped according to their variant dimensions.

For example, an item comes with two variant dimensions (color and size) and consists of the following variants:

Color Size
Black S
Black M
Black L
Red S
Red M
Red L

The Dimension Price Matrix of the item will look like below, where the columns represent the first dimension (color), and the rows represent the second dimension (size).

If the item consists of three variant dimensions and above, you can use the fields in the Extra Combination Filters section to select the combination of variant values to be displayed.

To maintain the Sales Prices and Purchase Prices for variants

You can use the Dimension Price Matrix to maintain the Sales Price List and Purchase Price List for variants.

For Sales Price, you can define the value for Unit Price, Unit Price Including VAT, and Line Discount %, whereas for Purchase Price, you can define the value for Direct Unit Cost and Line Discount %.

  1. Click the icon, enter Retail Item List, and select the relevant link.
  2. Select an item (with Variant Framework) and open its Retail Item Card.
  3. Depending on the field to maintain:

Note: The Variant Matrix (Unit Price incl. VAT) function for Sales Price is only available if the Assign-to Type of the selected Price List Line is set to Customer Price Group.

The Dimension Price Matrix requires at least one Price List Line to exist for the item, before it can be used to maintain the prices. If the Price List Line does not exist yet for the item, then you must create it from the Sales Price List or Purchase Price List. The Dimension Price Matrix is also accessible from the Sales Price List, in the Lines FastTab.

The Dimension Price Matrix shows the Price/Discount values for all the variants with an existing Price List Line, that has the following fields with matching value against the same fields in the selected Price List Line:

  • Price List Code
  • Assign-to Type and Assign-to No.
  • Product Type and Product No.
  • Unit of Measure Code
  • Starting Date

To manually add or update Prices/Discounts for variants

In the Dimension Price Matrix, enter a value in the cells for the variants that you want to work on, and click the OK button to close the matrix. The Price List Lines are created or updated for the variants based on the values you entered in the matrix. Newly created Price List Lines have the same Price List Code, Assign-to Type, Assign-to No., Product Type, Product No., Unit of Measure Code, and Starting Date as the Price List Line that was initially selected before the matrix is opened.

To set new value to existing Prices/Discounts for variants

In the Dimension Price Matrix, enter a value in the New Price/Discount field, and click the Set New Price/Discount action, this will update the cells for the existing variants with the new value. When you click the OK button to close the matrix, the changes will be applied to the Price List Lines of the affected variants.

To add value to existing Prices/Discounts for variants

In the Dimension Price Matrix, enter a value in the Add to Price/Discount field and click the Add to Price/Discount action. This updates the cells for the existing variants by adding the original value with the entered value. For example, if the original Unit Price of a variant is 10.00, adding it with a value of 1.50 results in a new Unit Price of 11.50.

When you click the OK button to close the matrix, the changes are applied to the Price List Lines of the affected variants.

To delete the Price List Lines for variants

In the Dimension Price Matrix, you can delete the Price List Line for a variant by using the AssistEdit button presented in the cell for the selected variant. Doing so sets the value of the cell to -1.00. Alternatively, you can also delete the Price List Lines for all the variants belonging to a specific dimension 2 (for example, size) at once, by selecting a row and then clicking the Delete Price/Discount (Row) action.

Note: Deleting the Price List Lines from the Dimension Price Matrix is only allowed, when you are working with the Unit Price, Unit Price Including VAT, or Direct Unit Cost field. This operation is not available when the matrix is used to update the Line Discount %.

When you click the OK button to close the matrix, the Price List Lines for the affected variants are deleted.

Tip: When updating the Price/Discount values in the Dimension Price Matrix, you can use the Reset Prices/Discounts action to reset the values to their original values at any given time.
