How to: Control When to Update Search Index and POS Buffer
You can control how frequently the Search Index is updated, and how frequently the command SELECTLATESTVERSION is called to update the POS Buffer.
- Click the icon, enter POS Functionality Profile, and select the relevant link.
- Open the POS Functionality Profile card you want to edit.
In the General FastTab, the POS Buffer upd. Interval (min) field lets you set the update frequency. By default the POS will update the Search Index table and reload the POS Buffer at the start of each new transaction. The interval value set in the POS Buffer upd. Interval (min) field counts for the minutes that should pass before trying to update the table and flush the buffer.
Updating the Search index table and POS Buffer less frequently will improve performance and speed up the POS.
If the Update Search Index Automatically check box is not selected, the Search Index Table will not be updated through the POS, and the value in the POS Buffer upd. Interval (min) field will not have any meaning for updating the Search Index.
