How to: Set Up Devices for AppShell on Android

Enabling the AppShell to connect to hardware requires some configuration in LS Central.

Supported devices are printers, scanners, and EFTs.
Note: To enable AppShell to connect to the devices, they must be set to Device Host ###LSAPPSHELL in the configuration. For information on how to configure AppShell on the mobile device see Android.

Printer settings

  1. Open the hardware profile that is in use.
  2. On the Printer FastTab, set the Printer field to POSPrinter.
  3. Scroll down to the POS Printer FastTab, and click Assist in the ID field.
  4. Add the new device, and fill in fields as needed.
  5. Set the Device Host to ###LSAPPSHELL.

Scanner settings

  1. Open the hardware profile that is in use.
  2. Scroll down to the POS Scanners FastTab, and click Assist in the ID field.
  3. Add the new device, and fill in fields as needed.
  4. Set the ID to ###LSAPPSHELL.
  5. Set the Device Host to ###LSAPPSHELL.

Note: The device ID for scanner must be ###LSAPPSHELL.

EFT device settings

  1. Open the hardware profile that is in use.
  2. On the EFT FastTab, set the EFT field to External.
  3. Scroll down to the POS EFTs FastTab, and click Assist in the ID field.
  4. Add the new device, and fill in fields as needed.
  5. Set the EFT Server Host to ###LSAPPSHELL.
