How to: Reorder Sales Line/s in the POS

If you need to order more of an item already ordered, consider using the Reorder functionality. It makes it very easy to reorder a sales line or reorder a set of lines such as another round of drinks.

The POS offers two commands for reordering sales lines: REORDERQTY and REORDERMENUTYPE.

POS Command REORDERQTY

This command allows you to reorder a current sales line and all its linked lines (such as modifiers). It's useful when you want to increase the quantity of an item with modifiers, and quantity change is not allowed.

The item along with all linked lines are copied and entered as new items in the transaction. If there is no parameter, the user enters the quantity to reorder in a numeric pad. If quantity change is allowed for an item, reordering 2 of the item results in a new line with the item and quantity 2. If quantity change is not allowed, the program creates 2 sets of the current line and its linked lines.

Steps to use REORDERQTY:

  1. In the POS, create a REORDER button with the POS Command REORDERQTY.
  2. Sell an item.
  3. Have the item line active and select the REORDER button.
  4. The program prompts you to enter the reorder quantity.
  5. Enter the reorder quantity.
  6. Select OK.

Now you have a new line in the POS with the same item and the reorder quantity.

Note: You can set a parameter with the POS command REORDERQTY to have a fixed quantity, which will prevent the program from prompting for the quantity.

POS Command REORDERMENUTYPE

The POS command REORDERMENUTYPE (previously called HOSP-REORDER) makes it easy to reorder a set of lines, for example another round of drinks. It is designed for a POS that categorizes items by menu type.

How it works:

  1. In your POS, create a button with the REORDERMENUTYPE command.

Note:  If you select a menu type as parameter for the command (you can only select a menu type that belongs to the restaurant in use), all lines that belong to this menu type will be reordered when you press the button. If you don't select a menu type as parameter, all items with a menu type in the journal will be reordered.

  2. Sell the items as usual in the POS.
  3. Select the Reorder - Menu Type button to reorder either the lines with the selected menu type or all lines with menu types.

The program duplicates the items in the POS journal.
