How to: Maintain a Hierarchy

To maintain a hierarchy

  1. Click the icon, enter Hierarchy, and select the relevant link.
  2. In the list select the hierarchy to be maintained, and click the Edit Hierarchy action to enter the Hierarchy page. The hierarchy nodes are displayed collapsed in the top list of the page. The lower part is a list of links that are linked to the selected node.
  3. Add a node to the hierarchy by clicking New. This way you can specify the Parent Node ID.
  4. Add a Sibling Node to the selected Node in the Hierarchy by clicking Process - Add Sibling Node. The new node will have the same parent node as the selected node.
  5. Add a Child Node to the selected Node in the Hierarchy by clicking Process - Add Child Node. The new node will have the selected node as a parent node.
  6. Reorder siblings by selecting the node you wish to move, and then click Process - Move Up or Move Down.
  7. Add links to the nodes at the bottom of the page. A hierarchy can either contain Items and Deals or Stores only. For Items and Deals select the Type and then the corresponding number. In a Store Hierarchy the type is automatically set, and you only have to enter the Store number.
  8. Add Items, Deals, or Stores to a node by clicking Add - Add Items or Add Deals in Item/Deal hierarchies or Add Stores in the Store Hierarchies. When you click one of the Add actions, you will see a list of items where you can filter your Items, Deals, or Stores. So, if you want to add all items in, for example, the DAIRY Item Category, you can enter DAIRY in the Item Category Code filter and all the items in the DAIRY Item Category will be added to the current node.
Note: If an Item, or Deal, or Store has the Link Only Once set in the hierarchy, the Add function will skip the Items, Deals, or Stores that already exist in the hierarchy.

Note: The Process - View With Filters action opens the Hierarchy Viewer page where the hierarchy is displayed with its links. Attributes can be set to enable filtering of links that are to be presented in the hierarchy. Default attributes are displayed and values can be set. You can add additional attributes to the list and save them as default by selecting the Save as Default check box.

You can set a Store number for Item/Deal type hierarchies in the Store Distribution field. If set, then only Item links that contain the Store in its Item Distribution and Deals containing the Store in its Price Group are displayed.

When you have set the filters, click the Filter by Attributes action to update the Hierarchy view.

To clear the filters, click the Clear Attribute Filters action, and either enter new filters or reload the hierarchy by clicking Filter By Attributes.
