How to: Use TIPS and TIPS with Suggestions commands for Hospitality Types
In this article
The two tips commands, TIPS and TIPS_SUGGESTIONS, are used to insert the received tip amounts for the transaction in the Sales POS. They are assigned to a POS menu button and use settings that depend on the active hospitality type.
-
TIPS is the older version and will be obsoleted in the future, handled by LSC Hospitality POS Commands.
-
TIPS_SUGGESTIONS is the new version, handled by LSC Tips Management. It uses a panel that includes the numpad buttons, thereby making it easier and faster to enter the amounts. You can add to it a #TIPSSUGGESTION menu with three tip percentage amounts to make it easier for the customer to select the tip amount to give. These suggested amounts are printed on the customer receipts.
The following list explains how to fill in the fields on the TIPS FastTab in the Hospitality Type Card page.
TIPS and TIPS_SUGGESTIONS
| Field | Information |
| Tips Income Acc. 1 | The income account that the tip amount 1 is posted to. |
| Tips Income Acc. 2 |
If inserting two tip amounts, this is the income account of the second tip amount. Note: This account must not be the same as Tips Income Acc. 1. |
| Print Tips on Pre-Receipt | The tips are printed on the pre-receipt. |
| Print Tips on Merchant Receipt | When pre-authorization is used, the merchant slip is printed out and handed to the customer for they to add the tip amount they want to give. Later on, when posting the transactions, the waiter uses the merchant slip to add the tip amount to the transaction and posts it. |
| Print Blank Tip Line | Print a blank line on the receipt (merchant and pre-receipt) so that the customer can write in the tip amount they want to add. |
| Print Blank Total Line | Print a blank line on the receipt (merchant and pre-receipt) so that the customer can write in the total amount they want to pay. |
Registering tips with an infocode
You can use the button parameter INFOCODE with both commands. The infocode registers the tips to a staff member to be able to get tip totals per staff via the infocode feature. The demo data provides the TIPS infocode for this purpose.
- In the Parameter field of the POS Menu line that the TIPS or TIPS_SUGGESTIONS command are assigned to, click on the rightmost assist button to view the POS Button Parameters page.
- Click Edit List.
- In the line with Parameter INFOCODE, enter the infocode code in the Parameter Value field.
- Close the page.
Note: The program has now automatically assigned the INFOCODE text to the Parameter field if it was empty. For the TIPS_SUGGESTIONS command, you need to clear the Parameter field. For this command, the Parameter field must be either blank or an existing Currency code, not the INFOCODE text.
