The Dining Table Status Log table

It can happen that the process of the order on a dining table has not been completed by the program. If the program can determine that something is wrong:

  • The dining table is put into Error state.
  • The dining table shows up on the table overview in the POS with the Error status (this may be a red color to flag that there is an error on the table).
  • The dining table shows as red in the Dining Tables page under its dining area. The reason for the error is specified in the Status or Transaction Mismatch field.

How the program determines the error

The dining table's Hosp. Order Trans. Status entries are crucial for the correct flow for the dining tables. Their status must match their corresponding transaction:

  • The Hosp. Order Trans. Status must be Open or Bill-printed, if the corresponding transaction exists as a POS transaction (not posted).
  • The status must be closed (paid or voided) if the corresponding transaction has been posted (paid or voided).
  • The Hosp. Order Trans. Status entry should not exist, if there is neither an unposted or a posted transaction with the same receipt number. This scenario can happen, if transactions have been deleted without deleting the Hosp. Order Trans. Status entries (for example when starting with a live database after creating test transactions).

Note: It is recommended to use the Reset KDS Related Tables and Info action on the Kitchen Service Configuration page to delete all KDS related tables, including the Hosp. Order Trans. Status table.

To view the dining tables for a dining area to spot errors

  1. Go to the Dining Areas page, and select the desired dining area.
  2. On the action bar, select Dining Tables.
  3. Search for dining tables that are marked with red.
  4. In the Dining Table Information FactBox, you can click the various entry information to get an overview of what is happening with the table.

Note: If the number of Linked POS transactions and open Hosp. Order Trans. Status entries does not match, these numbers appear red. In this case, resetting the dining table is necessary.

To reset the dining table in the Back Office

  1. In the Action bar, select Reset Dining Table.
  2. Confirm the question.
  3. If the program managed to reset the table, the status bar displays a message saying that the dining table has been reset. The table is now free or it may have another order as active order.

To reset the dining table in the POS

A dining table shows the error status in the POS, if the active order on the dining table points to an open Hosp. Order Trans. Status entry, but there is no corresponding POS transaction. If you press the dining table in the error state, a pop-up appears with the RESET TABLE command.

To do What happens on POS
In Hospitality POS:
  • Select the dining table in the error state.
In the pop-up menu that appears, the RESET TABLE command is visible.
In Hospitality POS:
  • Select RESET TABLE.
A confirmation window appears.
In Hospitality POS:
  • Press Yes.
If the program managed to reset the table, the status bar displays a message saying that the dining table has been reset. The table is now free or it may have another order as active order.

The Dining Table Status Log table

Each time the RESET TABLE function is carried out, the program creates entries in the Dining Table Status Log table. It includes important information on what was done and the state of the various tables involved and is useful for troubleshooting.

You can access the table from the Dining Tables page, in the Dining Table Information FactBox page.
