Queue Counter

This table contains a counter that is used to mark a transaction and put it in a queue. Its primary use is in a quick service restaurant where the customer orders and pays right away. The order is sent into the kitchen for production. The queue counter identifies the transaction in the kitchen and is printed on the customer receipt.

The queue counter can be assigned to a hospitality type. As an example, a restaurant has two hospitality types, takeaway and dine-in. In one scenario, the same queue counter is used for both types. In another scenario, takeaway has its own queue counter and dine-in has its own. They can have a separate prefix or suffix. Each queue counter has a minimum value and a maximum value. When maximum value has been reached, the system returns to the minimum value.

Queue Counters can also be used in a retail scenario where certain items need to be serviced or prepared in the kitchen (with kitchen routing). The queue counter is then assigned directly to the store. Only when a transaction includes an item with kitchen routing, the queue counter is issued.

If using a sales type that request a description, you can identify the order with a customer name in addition to the queue counter.
