The Planned Sales Demand is used when the Replenishment Journal is calculated for an item with the Replenishment Calculation Type set to Average Usage or Manual Estimate.

Planned Sales Demand lets you set up a planned future sales demand for an item in a store for a specific date. This Planned Sales Demand is used and calculated on top of the replenishment quantity suggested by the journal.

You can create Planned Sales Demand lines for promotional items in an upcoming Periodic Discount by using the calculated value from the Planned Discount Performance. This is supported for Periodic Discounts of type Discount Offer, Multibuy, and Mix & Match.

To create Planned Sales Demand lines from Planned Discount Performance

Before Planned Sales Demand lines can be created for a Periodic Discount based on Planned Discount Performance, you need to first configure the Periodic Discount.

  1. Click the icon, enter Discount Offer List, Multibuy Discount List, or Mix&Match Offer List, and select the relevant link.
  2. Select an existing Periodic Discount.
  3. In the Lines FastTab, specify a Planned Demand Type for each relevant Periodic Discount Line.
  4. In the Replenishment FastTab, you can enable the Consider Days Valid field, if you want the Planned Sales Demand lines to be created on days where the discount is valid only.

Note: The Planned Demand field is optional if the discount has Planned Discount Performance calculation enabled.

Next, the relevant Periodic Discount needs to be linked to a Replenishment Planned Event.

  1. Click the icon, enter Replen. Planned Events, and select the relevant link.
  2. On the Replen. Planned Events page, click New to create a new event.
  3. Fill in the Event and Description fields for the event as needed.
  4. Select Discount as the Source Type and in the Source Code field, select the relevant Periodic Discount.
  5. Click the Update Lines action to open the Update Planned Sales Demand from Discount report.
  6. Click OK to create the Planned Sales Demand lines.

The Planned Sales Demand lines will be created for all items and stores where the discount is applied. The Planned Demand value is derived from the calculated Planned Discount Performance lines, either for Substitute Quantity, Additional Quantity (to Forecast), or Additional % Factor (to Forecast), depending on the setup defined for each item in its corresponding Periodic Discount Line. However, if no matching Planned Discount Performance line exists for an item or store, the system falls back to use the Planned Demand value as defined in the Periodic Discount Line.
