The Planned Discount Performance calculation enables you to estimate the expected impact of upcoming discounts on sales. It helps businesses predict how much demand is likely to increase during planned discount periods, allowing for better inventory planning and performance benchmarking once the discount is executed.

The calculation is supported for Periodic Discounts of type Discount Offer, Multibuy, Mix & Match, and their associated archived records.

To link a new Periodic Discount to historical Periodic Discounts

To calculate the Planned Discount Performance for a new Periodic Discount, you need to link it to similar historical Periodic Discounts.

  1. Click the icon, enter Discount Offer List, Multibuy Discount List, or Mix&Match Offer List, and select the relevant link.
  2. Select an existing Periodic Discount.
  3. The Periodic Discount needs to have the Enable Planned Disc. Performance Calculation setting activated.
  4. Click Discount Performance - Planned Performance - Linked Historical Discounts.
  5. Link a historical Periodic Discount by filling in the relevant fields:
  6. Field Description
    Historical Discount No. This field specifies the historical discount number that is linked to the current periodic discount. You can only link to a historical discount which has Actual Discount Performance calculation enabled.
    Type This field shows the type of the linked historical discount.
    Status This field shows whether the linked historical discount is open or archived.
    Weight This field specifies the weight of the historical discount relative to other linked historical discounts. The weight is used to calculate the % Share.
    % Share This field shows the percentage share of the historical discount relative to other linked historical discounts, indicating how much its sales influence the Planned Discount Performance calculation.
    Additional Lift Factor This field specifies an additional lift factor applied to the projected daily discounted sales of the new periodic discount, based on the sales of the historical discount.
    Historical Discount Starting Date
    Historical Discount Ending Date
    These fields show the discount starting and ending dates of the linked historical discount.

    Note:

    • Only historical Periodic Discounts with their Enable Actual Disc. Performance Calculation setting activated, and having a matching Calculation per Store setting as the current discount can be linked.
    • Only historical Periodic Discounts that apply to the same set of items and stores as the current discount should be linked.

To calculate Planned Discount Performance

To calculate the Planned Discount Performance of the new Periodic Discount, the system uses actual performance data from the linked historical Periodic Discounts.

  1. Click the icon, enter Discount Offer List, Multibuy Discount List, or Mix&Match Offer List, and select the relevant link.
  2. Select an existing Periodic Discount.
  3. Fill in the fields related to the Planned Discount Performance calculation:
  4. Field Description
    Enable Planned Disc. Performance Calculation This field specifies whether the planned discount performance calculation is enabled for this periodic discount.
    Consider Price Elasticity This field specifies if Price Elasticity is considered in the calculation. It is only supported for periodic discount of type Discount Offer.
    Calculation per Store This field specifies whether the planned discount performance calculation is done per store. When not enabled, the calculation is done for all stores combined.
    Linked Historical Discounts This field shows the number of linked historical discounts associated with this periodic discount.

    Note: For a periodic discount to qualify for Planned Discount Performance calculation, both the starting date and ending date in the assigned Validation Period must be specified.

  5. Click Discount Performance - Planned Performance - Calculate Planned Discount Performance. This action will bring up the Calculate Planned Discount Performance report.
  6. Click OK to calculate the planned discount performance.

To view Planned Discount Performance lines

The Planned Discount Performance line is calculated for each item and store associated with the periodic discount, as defined in the Periodic Discount Lines and the assigned Price Group.

  1. Click the icon, enter Discount Offer List, Multibuy Discount List, or Mix&Match Offer List, and select the relevant link.
  2. Select an existing Periodic Discount.
  3. Click Discount Performance - Planned Performance - Show Planned Discount Performance.
  4. The following table describes the fields in the Planned Discount Performance page:

    Field Description
    Discount No. This field shows the discount number of the current discount.
    Item No. This field shows the item number.
    Variant Code This field shows the item variant code.
    Store No. This field shows the store number. If Calculation per Store is not enabled for the periodic discount, this field will be blank.
    Daily Sales (Disc.) This field shows the projected daily discounted sales for the item in each store.
    Daily Sales (Non-Disc.) This field shows the projected daily non-discounted sales for the item in each store.
    Price Elasticity Considered This field shows if price elasticity is considered in the planned discount performance calculation for the item.
    Substitute Quantity This field shows the projected daily discounted sales quantity for the item in each store. If Planned Sales Demand lines are created for the discount and the selected Planned Demand Type is Substitute Quantity, this value is used.
    Additional Quantity (to Forecast) This field shows the projected increase in daily sales quantity for the item in each store, when the discount is applied. If Planned Sales Demand lines are created for the discount and the selected Planned Demand Type is Additional Quantity (to Forecast), this value is used.
    Additional % Factor (to Forecast) This field shows the projected percentage increase in daily sales for the item in each store, when the discount is applied. If Planned Sales Demand lines are created for the discount and the selected Planned Demand Type is Additional % Factor (to Forecast), this value is used.
