The Lead Time calculation extends the general replenishment calculation process for an item to include the delay applicable during inventory movement. The lead time is calculated as the latency between the submission of a Purchase or Transfer Order and the receipt of the items in the warehouse or store.

For purchase replenishment, this refers to the Vendor Lead Time, which is the time taken by the supplier to process the order and ship the items to the warehouse or stores.

You can define the Vendor Lead Time in the Retail Vendor Card and the Item Vendor Catalog, but the same value will be applied regardless of which destination location the stocks are delivered to. If a vendor has a different lead time for a destination location, this can be defined with the Item Vendor Dest. Locations setup.

When calculating the Replenishment Journal, if a matching entry exists in Item Vendor Dest. Locations, its Lead Time value will be used instead of the one defined in Retail Vendor Card or Item Vendor Catalog.

To set up the Vendor Lead Time per Destination Location

  1. Click the icon, enter Retail Item List, and select the relevant link.
  2. Select the relevant Item, and click Manage - Edit.
  3. In the Related action menu, click Purchases - Vendors to open the Item Vendor Catalog page.
  4. In the Related action menu, click Replenishment - Vendor Dest. Locations to open the Item Vendor Dest. Locations page.
  5. In the Item Vendor Dest. Locations page, enter the Destination Location Code and Vendor No.
  6. For purchase replenishment to the warehouse, the Destination Location Code should be set to the warehouse to which the vendor will ship the items. For purchase replenishment to the store location, the Destination Location Code should be set to the store to which the vendor will ship the items.
  7. Enter the desired value for the Lead Time Calculation related to the selected vendor and destination location.
  8. Note: By default, the initial value for the Lead Time Calculation is copied over from the Item Vendor Catalog for the related vendor and item. If the related entries do not exist in Item Vendor Catalog, the initial value for the Lead Time Calculation is copied over from the Retail Vendor Card for the related vendor.

It is also possible to maintain the entries via the Vendor Item Dest. Locations page, which is accessible from the Retail Vendor Card, through the Related - Replenishment - Item Dest. Locations menu in the Vendor Item Catalog page.

Additionally, there are two methods to create or update the records in Item Vendor Dest. Locations or Vendor Item Dest. Locations in bulk.

  • To update the Lead Time Calculation value for the existing filtered records:

    1. In the Item Vendor Dest. Locations or Vendor Item Dest. Locations page, filter the page to include the records to be updated.
    2. Click the Update Lead Time action.
    3. Enter the desired value for the Lead Time Calculation in the LS Retail Input Dialog page.
    4. Click OK and all the filtered records will be updated with the entered Lead Time Calculation value.
  • To create or update new entries in bulk, use the Add Item Vendor Dest. Location Report.

Lead Time Consideration in Purchase Order

For the Purchase Order to consider the Lead Time Calculation value from the Item Vendor Dest. Locations setup, you can activate this in Replen. Setup, using the Enable for Purchase Order setting under the Integration FastTab - Advanced Lead Time Calculation group.

Once the setting is activated, the Lead Time Calculation value taken from the Retail Vendor or Item Vendor Catalog will be overwritten with the value from Item Vendor Dest. Locations, if the entry matches with the Vendor No. and Location Code of the Purchase Line. The Lead Time value is then used to calculate the Expected Receipt Date in the Purchase Line.
