Extending Analytics

Extension guidelines

The Analytics data warehouse may not include all the data that LS Retail's customers want to report on, and therefore Analytics has been designed with this in mind. LS Central partners and customers can easily extend and customize Analytics for LS Central to fit the customers' needs.

These extensions and customizations can and most often need to be done on more than one level of Analytics, and to assist you here are a few examples of data that can be added to Analytics.

From LS Central to Data Warehouse

  • Additional field(s) in existing tables
  • Additional table(s)
  • Additional extension
  • Third-party data (store movement tracker, CCTV, …).

In Power BI

  • New reports (from scratch or from existing ones)
  • Report modifications
  • Get data from external sources in Power BI.

Extension guidelines

The extension guidelines go through several scenarios for extending Analytics. Both by extending the data warehouse and by adding third-party data directly to Power BI report.

For Analytics version 2023.4 and later, you should use our latest version of the Extension guidelines.

Changes were made in version 2022.3 to fix an issue in the extension functionality, so these are the guidelines that should be used by those who are running Analytics version 2022.3-2023.3 Analytics Extension guide - Analytics version 2022.3-2023.3

If you are running older versions of LS Insight, refer to the extension guidelines for version 2020.5-2022.2
