Prepayments and Sales Tax
Prepayments in Customer Orders are posted into the store’s income account.
Sales tax is not created for a prepaid Customer Order.
Sales tax is calculated when the customer order is collected or shipped, and prepayment is taken out of the store’s income account.
Sales tax is recalculated whenever the POS calculates the transaction total during collection or shipping, for example when the cashier presses the Total button.
- If the recalculated sales tax changes the total amount due for the order, the prepayment line amount is automatically adjusted to match the new item total, so the balance shown to the cashier stays correct.
