Barcodes

Barcodes are symbols that can be scanned electronically using laser or camera-based systems.

They are used to encode information such as product numbers, serial numbers and batch numbers. Barcodes play a key role in supply chains, enabling parties like retailers, manufacturers, transport providers and hospitals to automatically identify and track products as they move through the supply chain.

LS Central supports GS1 Barcodes which are compact 1D Barcodes that can hold additional product attributes, such as the weight of fresh food.

In LS Central there are two versions of GS1 Barcode functionality. Version 1 has been in use up until LS Central Version 26, but from version 27 there are two versions of GS1 Barcodes, Version 1 and Version 2. It can be switched from Verson 1 to Version 2 and vice versa. When switching no data upgrade is needed.

  • Version 1 relies on manual setup stored in GS1 BarcodeV1 setup page.
  • Version 2 does not need any setup. It works according to the standard: ref.gs1.org/ai/.

You can switch between versions in the GS1 Barcode Setup page. See: GS1 Barcodes
