How to: Set Up Stock Protection in Customer Order

The decision of where to source the items based on the inventory availability. The below example shows how the inventory is calculated.

Qty Sold not Posted 20

Actual Inventory 100 - 10 - 20 = 70

Safety Stock 10%

Available Quantity 70 - 7 = 63

Expected Purchase Inbound Quantity 27

Expected Sales Outbound Quantity 30

Expected Available Quantity 63 + 27 - 30 = 60

The Stock Protection feature enables you to keep safety stock for the stores and make this stock unavailable for customer orders. To use the Stock Protection functionality in the Customer Order module, you must complete these steps:

  1. Set up two hierarchies on the Hierarchy page. See Hierarchies
    1. Stores: List of Stores used in the Store-Item Hierarchy Relation in Step 2.
    2. Items: List of Items used in the Store-Item Hierarchy Relation in Step 2.
      Note: The Link Only Once check box must be selected for all of the hierarchies.
  2. Set up one hierarchy relation on the Hierarchy Relation page. See Hierarchy Relations.
    1. Click the New action, and enter Sourcing in the Usage Type field.
    2. In the Hierarchy (Left) field: Store Hierarchy.
    3. In the Hierarchy (Right) field: Item Hierarchy.
    4. On the Hierarchy Relation page, click the Edit Hierarchy Relation action.
    5. Select a Store Group in the left Hierarchy Viewer, and then select an Item Group in the right Hierarchy Viewer.
    6. Click the the Maintenance action, then click Add Relation (Active).
    7. Now the relation is active and you can define the the Safety Stock Percentage and Safety Stock Quantity fields in the Item Hierarchy Viewer.
  3. Configure the Stock Calculation FastTab in the Customer Order Setup page:
    1. In the Store-Item Relation field, select the relation you created in Step 2.
    2. Turn on the Keep Safety Stock field.
