How to use the migration tool

An enhanced tool for migrating the Standard KDS data to the Web KDS configuration will be available in LS Central version 29.0, and onwards.

In prior versions LS Central 26 - 28, the tool migrates only the Display Stations, Routing setup, and the Aggregate profiles(Queue profiles).
The rest of the profiles are populated with fixed default data, based on the Demo Data in the LS Retail Cronus company. The user can then replace or enhance these profiles.

The new features in the WebKDS, which are not in the Standard KDS, are populated with fixed default data.

After migration, the Web KDS should be able to start up with Display/Printer Stations close to the Standard KDS look.

Note: Some of the data might not fit perfectly in the Web KDS, after migration, for example font sizes, and needs to be adjusted manually.

The Migration Tool migrates the following data:

How to use the migration tool

1. In the Restaurant Manager Role Center select the Web KDS Action, and then select Settings and then Migrate Standard KDS Configuration to Web KDS
   
   
2. If you are not using the Restaurant Manager Role Center, Click the icon, and enter Web KDS and select Migrate Standard KDS Configuration to Web KDS.
   
   

There are two actions to choose from:

1. Migrate Standard KDS to Web KDS
   First select the Restaurant you want to migrate for:
   You can migrate data for more than one restaurant by running the tool again and select another restaurant.
   • After selecting the Restaurant to migrate from, the user is asked if default configuration data should be added.
     • The data is based on the KDS Demo Data in the Cronus company.
     • Note: This is usually not needed but might be of use.
   • If the Routing Setup, for the selected Restaurant, includes Load Config settings the user is asked if he wants to create the Display/Printer stations used there as well.
     • Select Yes if they should be created.
     • If the stations are for printing they are not added to the Kitchen Stations list in the Restaurant card. They need to be added manually, since adding them automatically could confuse the routing logic in the Web KDS service.
       

2. Reset all Web KDS tables
   This command deletes ALL data from the Web KDS tables.
   Note: If multiple restaurants have been migrated, the Web KDS data for all of them is deleted.
   

It is possible to run the Migration tool more than once for the same Restaurant.

For example: If some style data was changed in the Standard KDS configuration the WebKDS data is updated with the changes.

For users on version 25 the migration tool is available as an extension and can be downloaded from the LS Retail Portal (login required) and published to the BC environment.

Note: If you are using the Extension, the Role Center menu option is not available.
