Setting Up Dining Table Types
Dining table types specify seating capacity (general, minimum, and maximum) and shape for dining tables and are used to assign those characteristics to the dining tables in all your dining areas. If you want to change the seating capacity and shape of a dining table you need to assign to it a different dining table type.
Note:The dining table's type does not depend on the dining area layout, it is always the same.
You also assign a dining table type to each combined dining table you set up. This lets you control the combined capacity. It can be the sum of the capacity of the actual tables, or less or more than that sum.
When you allocate dining tables and combined tables to reservation entries, the program uses the minimum and maximum capacity of the tables to show only those tables suitable for the requested number of guests. You can assign a rank number to dining table types to sort the dining tables by a certain order of dining table types.

Dining table types and multiple seatings
When a dining area uses multiple seatings, several parties are seated at the same dining table at the same time and share its seats. Every dining table in the dining area must have a dining table type with a Capacity greater than 0, and the POS does not start if one does not. The program checks only that. We also recommend that you set up the dining table types like this:
- Min. Capacity should be 1, so that a party of any size can be seated at the table.
- Capacity and Max. Capacity should be the same. This is the number of seats the parties at the table share.
For example, a table for six guests uses a dining table type with Min. Capacity 1, and Capacity and Max. Capacity 6.
See How to Set Up a Dining Area for Multiple Seatings for the other setup required on the dining area.
