A check mark in this field indicates that stock updates should be made immediately when the transaction takes place on the POS. This can be a matter of importance where it is necessary to monitor stock movement closely.

Automatic Stock Updates should not be enabled for an offline POS, or in scenarios where POS transactions are replicated to a head-office located in a different company or environment and are subsequently posted there through statement posting.
When Automatic Stock Updates is enabled, the Item Ledger Entries (and Value Entries) are posted in the POS environment when the transaction takes place. The transaction status is consequently updated to indicate that the items have already been posted. If the transaction is then replicated to the head-office environment, this status is replicated with the transaction.
As a result, when the statement is subsequently calculated and posted in the head-office environment, the system recognizes the items as already posted and does not create the corresponding Item Ledger Entries and Value Entries in that environment.
For offline or replicated POS scenarios where inventory entries must be created in the head-office environment, Automatic Stock Updates must therefore be disabled and the inventory updates should be handled through statement posting in the head-office environment.
